Harmony Kingdom - Fool's Paradise Solid Prototype Charity Auction

The HK House of Peers and Harmony Kingdom offered you the opportunity to win this solid prototype of Fool's Paradise (TJB15). At the same time you would be assisting NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), a grass roots organization dedicated to the eradication of mental illnesses and to the improvement of the quality of life for all whose lives are affected by these diseases.

Fool's Paradise was carved by Master Carver Peter Calvesbert in 2007 and released in a fixed edition of 500 pieces in February 2008, arriving in stores in June. This small Treasure Jest was produced in England.

Fool's Paradise HK Secrets:

Master Carver Peter Calvesbert reports that he loves the pelican. It fits his category of weird and wonderful, and always makes him smile. Additionally, he and pelicans have some similarities. They both catch fish, are ungainly on land, and have large beaks (this according to Peter). “St. James’s Park” is inscribed on the lid. This park, close to Buckingham Palace, is home to five pelicans; four from Eastern Europe and one from Louisiana, USA. The interior of this fixed edition box figurine portrays a pigeon. One of the St. James’s pelicans was recently pictured in the British press scoffing down a hapless pigeon.

Fool's Paradise

The Fool's Paradise pelican seems to be contemplating his dinner—and the fish doesn't seem too happy about it. Peter says he is fond of pelicans because they have so much in common: they both catch fish, are ungainly on land, and have large "beaks"!

The piece offered here is a solid prototype, not a box. There are several other differences from the regular issue piece.

  • There are no hallmarks or production symbols.
  • Since this is a solid piece the internal inscriptions ("Merritt," "St. James," "Dixon," and "Lanier") are missing.
  • The inscription under the pelican's tail "Louisiana 1" is missing.
  • The base is marked PELICAN # 001.
