Eat, Drink and Be Merry Prototype
Eat, Drink and Be Merry was carved by Master Carver Peter Calvesbert in 2007 and released in a fixed edition of 500 pieces in February 2008, arriving in stores in May. This small Treasure Jest was produced in England.

Eat, Drink and Be Merry HK Secrets:
Peter’s gannet box figurine came about after watching a program about gannets and how they gracefully dive into the sea to catch fish. Gannet after gannet dived perfectly into the water and Peter wished that just one would do a “bomb” instead and make a huge splash. It never happened, so Peter decided to carve his own! The interior shows a fish looking up and realizing it is about to be flattened. The UK is home to two thirds of the gannet population, hence UK2/3 on the lid. Its Latin name, Morus Bassanus, is also inscribed. |

Eat, Drink and Be Merry Prototype
With Eat, Drink and Be Merry Peter became fascinated by gannets after watching a TV program that showed them gracefully diving into the sea to catch fish. He was inspired to carve this piece to illustrate their grace and skill as fishermen, though one of the fish on this piece may be ready to fight back!
There are several differences from the regular issue piece:
-
This is a solid prototype, not a box.
-
There are no inscriptions on this piece.
-
The base is marked: GANNIT [sic] PROTOTYPE.
